Need:
A leading Retail chain store sought to prevent cash register shrinkage from improper billing and customer returns at the Point of Sale (POS) terminals.
Existing System:
The existing POS terminals are protected by PIN based (Password) authentication system
- Periodic password changes to ensure data security
- Problems with the conventional 'User ID & Password' based login systems-
- Password/Identity theft was possible
- Exchange of password with in colleagues in emergency situations

Requirement:
- USB based scanner attached to POS terminal
- POS terminals are connected to the Branch Server
- Branch server synchronizes data with the Central server via intranet
- User log report
Solution Proposed:
Legend Systems proposed to use fingerprint authentication to create a verifiable user-unique audit trail, which facilitate authentication and monitoring of POS terminal access. Legend designed an Application Interface around the POS software to facilitate biometric login.
